Biennial Report 2006-2007 July 2005. San Antonio Essay contestant Cheuk Ng, was a $100 winner in the Grand Lodge contest. The local Lodge celebrated its 50th Golden Anniversary at the San Antonio Country Club. Its honored guests included 2005 Grand Vice President Munson Kwok, Edmond Gor 2005 Grand Executive National Board, Daniel Chow 2005 Houston President, Houston's Past Presidents James Chow & Gordon Quan also Houston Councilman, Houston Lodge Treasurer Dorothy Chow, San Antonio Postmaster Bobby Larios, Jason Lai Director Cultural Division Taipei Economic & Cultural Office Houston, Shu Ling Li Director Chinese Culture Center in Houston for Taiwan, Jimmy Hu Founder & Chairman Taiwan chamber of Commerce San Antonio, and Dr. Donald Lien Associate Dean of International Affairs International Business Programs college of Business University of Texas at San Antonio. The celebration was an evening of fun, food, music, fellowship, dancing, and door prizes. September 2005. Lodge members Lily Ng and Virginia Wong attended the Houston Miss Chinatown pageant. November 2005. Local Lodge members delivered 50 baby blankets made by members to the Children's Shelter. December 2005. The annual Christmas dinner & installation of 2006 officers was held on Dec 18 2005 at Beijing Restaurant. January 2006. Boi Jean Lim was accepted as new member. Plans and collection for packaging individual laundry detergent bags for the Women's & Children's Shelters were initiated. February 2006. Members participated and worked with the Chinese Women's Club to celebrate New Year at the Asian Festival at the University of Texas Institute of Texas Culture grounds. Members helped out in the booth selling Chinese food. Members also celebrated Chinese New Year's Dinner with the Chinese Society of San Antonio to welcome the New Year. Mar 2006. Seven students participated in the annual CACA National Essay Contest at the Chinese School. April 2006. Members packaged and delivered individual use laundry detergent packages for the San Antonio Battered Women's and Children's Shelters. June 2006. Members volunteered and worked with the Chinese Community Council at the Texas Folklife Festival held at the University of Texas Institute of Texas Culture grounds to raise funds for Chinese School of San Antonio. Members worked setting up the booth and selling Chinese food at the festival. July 2006. Certificates for participants of the National Essay contest were presented to local contestants at a community party held at the Chinese School. September 2006. Grand Rep Virginia Wong and lodge member Ruth Lew attended the Grand Board Retreat held at Las Vegas. Andrew Ho was accepted as new member. October 2006. Four new members were accepted into the Lodge (Linda & Bill Wong, Erica Louie, and Shu Tong). The local Lodge contributed $50 to the Milka Kwan Foundation. December 2006. The annual Christmas dinner & installation of new slate of 2007 officers was held at Beijing Restaurant. January 2007. The local Lodge voted to support the upcoming National convention by purchasing a full page ad. Three new members, John Michael Zadeh, David & Jessica Grigsby, were accepted into the lodge. The local Lodge initiated plans to make cool dudes neck aqua cools for deploying military service members. February 2007. Lodge Members worked with San Antonio Chinese Women's Club to celebrate Chinese New Year at the Asian Festival at the Institute of Texas Culture. Members participated in the Chinese New Year's Dinner with The Chinese Society of San Antonio to celebrate and welcome the New Year. March 2007. The annual essay contest was held at the Chinese School. Six students participated in the annual essay scholarship contest. Two students participated in the Grand Lodge Art contest. May 2007. Two new Members were accepted into the local Lodge, Vanessa and Randy Lim. June 2007. Lodge Members worked at the Texas Folklife Festival with the Chinese Community Council to raise funds for Chinese School of San Antonio. San Antonio contestant Rebecca Schuetz was a merit winner in the National Essay Contest. |
