The Los Angeles Lodge has had another prosperous year. This report highlights some of the events that took place during the past years. With the year of the Rooster we continue with the support of our brothers and sisters in our community commitments including the Chinatown Business Improvement District (BID) and the growth of our Lodge.

Community Action

  • An artist, a granddaughter of Walter Annenberg from the Annenberg Foundation will be planting 32 acres of corn in the spring to be harvested in the fall. This field will later be converted into a California Historical State Park
  • Participated in Chinatown Public Safety Association
  • Community Action is interested in developing Yale Terrace, 55 units of affordable housing in Chinatown
  • Community Action is interested in developing the new, proposed cultural facility in Blossom Plaza to meet some of Chinatown's urgent needs.
  • Gabrielino High School students raise $3,020 and sent a check to Winston Wu at the Los Angeles Lodge for the National CIF Tsunami Fund The Lodge donated $500.00 and members donated $1,725.00 to the Tsunami Fund
  • Successful endorsement of elected Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa

Youth Programs

  • Over 30 students and parents attend the College Scholarship and Financial Aid workshop sponsored by the Youth Council
  • Scholarship essay applications are available for high school seniors. They are awarded certificates and monetary: First-Sl,000.00, Second--$700.00, Third--$500.00 and 10 Awards ofMerit-$100.00 and Certificates plus Local Awards
  • Chinese American Citizens Alliance Youth Council presented a "Youth Rhythmic Evening" at Monterey park Barnes Park Amphitheatre to raise scholarship funds The Alliance Youth Council held a "New SAT" workshop with attendances of over 30 students and parents
  • Campus tours to UCI and UCLA, Chinese American Museum
  • CACA Youth Council held a youth Leadership conference

Lodge Developments
  • Recognized Los Angeles Newest Forty-Year Members in 2005
  • Recruitment of 17 new member in 2004 and 20 new members for 2005
  • A new Dance series presented by Sis. Janice Ng and the Mandarin Committee were proudly presented at the beginning of each L.A. Lodge Monthly meetings
  • Installation Dinners 2004 and 2005 for new elected officers.
  • The Los Angeles Lodge past president, Irvin R. Lai, created a new nonprofit C.A.C.A Community Action. He is currently creating a Chinese Mandarin language class to be held every Saturday.
  • The Lodge ensures fairness of endorsement of candidates that are running for political office.
  • The Lodge had a 93rd Anniversary Party with fun-food-entertainment. We honored our public servant couple Hon. Michael Eng and Hon. Judy Chu.
