Bob Gin

National Vice President, Education

Bob Gin serves as National Vice President, Education, for 2015-2017. He is member of Greater San Gabriel Valley Lodge (GSGV), and has served several terms as its president. Bob graduated from California State University of Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He retired from his work in 2006 and continues to be active in civic activities and elected office, notably as a Member of the Board of Education for the Alhambra Unified School District.

Among the many community and political organizations Bob is engaged are the California School Board Association, Asian Pacific Islander School Board Member Association, Alhambra Educational Foundation, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Monterey Park Democratic Club and United Democratic Club of the W.S.G.V.

In 1973, Bob was asked to organize and put together teams for the first Dragon Boat race in Los Angeles at Echo Park. He has served as President of the Lotus Festival Advisory Board for three years, while continuing to organize the boat races. In 1993, he established the Lotus Festival Scholarship, through Heritage Asian Pacific, Inc., for high school seniors who are planning to attend a four-year college or university.

Bob was born in the City of Los Angeles and has deep roots in the City of Monterey Park. He attended Brightwood Elementary School and graduated from Alhambra High School. Bob has resided in the City of Monterey Park for the last 48 years. He and his wife Diane have four daughters. His wife Diane is an educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District. All of his children attended Brightwood Elementary School, two graduated from Alhambra High and two from Mark Keppel High School.
